Running out of days…..

Hi guys,

This is kind of follow up to Rama’s reliving stress and I have decided to take up running.

This is day two. I started yesterday on a whim. I’m not really the athletic type so I had to search high and low to find the right clothes – I don’t even have running shoes, just some cheap plimsolls from Primark.

I tied my hair up, no makeup and I was ready to go – even if I didn’t look my best.

DAY ONE

So done with my warm up and stretches I took to the pavements of East London. It was a treacherous journey; not only am I severely unfit and puffed out within the first two minutes but having to dodge broken pavements, dog pooh, broken bottles of Jack Daniels and the occasional stinging nettle is not easy without your glasses.

DAY TWO

Decided to wake up early and go for a run. No one in my house thought I could do, but sure enough 6.30 my alarm goes off and I roll out of bed into my running kit.

After downing some hay fever medication I hit the streets, this time there are aren’t as many people about but in my opinion still too many this early in the morning.

Got my ipod, got my water and I’m on my way. This time I only made 10 minutes (I know –lame!!!!!!!), but I felt good for it after. I tried to take a scenic route however I found out there was some construction work going on, so instead of peace and tranquillity, I got some builders leering at me.

I like to tell myself that they were impressed with my effort and my fine physique however deep down I know they were thinking wtf?

Why is she wearing that? What is she doing? Does she really think that’s how you run?

Anyway, it’s almost 7pm and I am starting to feel the burn. My calves and sides are tense. I can actually feel my lungs – I didn’t even know you could feel your lungs. I hope that’s normal.

TIPS FOR BEGINNERS

  • Start of slow
  • Don’t overdo it or you will hate it and stop.
  • Choose great music to run to, I thought that something with a great beat would  be best but to my surprise I was loving Alicia Keys Unthinkable.
  • Get comfortable clothing.
  • Keep on Running!
